Cold-calling or emailing would be your best option. Truth is, that public finance is a very small space and a lot of people end up staying and not leaving, so openings don't come often. Your best bet is networking, I'm a temp (ending soon) and I'm having trouble landing interviews through online apps, indeed.com etc. So now I am trying to network now and its not easy. If all fails MBA might be your reset button.
Also I know there is healthcare banking (corporate) if I remember Jefferies kills that space. So maybe you can try to get into a healthcare banking (non- public finance).
Also I believe that SBCO doesn't have a healthcare group.
Networking is your best bet and there are a lot of opportunities with munis. There is obviously the PF side, but you can also work in S&T, hedge funds, mutual funds, research, and so forth. Some firms have a formal recruiting season and process, but most don't. I would start emailing and calling people.
Piper had some openings recently for a PF analyst.

PublicFinance IB is definitely a niche part of the overall investment banking department of most investment banks. I would say that getting in to PF or Municipal Securities groups of investment banks requires a more unique, customized approach than the standard IB process in terms of your story, preparation and overall fit. I would be happy to answer more questions and give you more insights in to this.

I know Barclays, MS and Citi do.
Hope this helps or provides some color.
Best of Luck.
How did you get into the Big four advisory/consulting gig? I went to a non-target and big four only recruits for audit and such no TAS or consulting.
thanks TheKid1.
Anyone else by chance have anything additional to add?
