New and looking for advice!

Hi, I'm a rising junior at a private liberal arts college majoring in political science and either majoring in or getting a certificate in computer science.

During the past two years in college, I've come to have a knack at data analysis and have tried to learn as much I can (especially since my school is no ivy league school). I've taken graduate level courses, econometrics, advance statistics, data modeling classes, and algorithm design and analysis.

This upcoming summer, I'll be interning in Chicago for a company that does analytics. Specifically, it uses real-time data to make marketing recommendations for clients, mostly multinational companies.

As of recently, I've started to develop an interest in careers for investment banking and equity research analysis. Considering what I've done so far and the internship I'll be doing, would a career in investment banking or equity research analysis be appropriate?

If it is an inappropriate career path, can you explain and if it is indeed appropriate for myself to consider such a career, what more should I learn, specific skills I should consider, etc.

Thank you!
