New years eve/day

Just curious...

Hopefully most of us are off today and tomorrow - sorry to those of you who aren't - but I'm wondering whether the rest of you are able to take new years eve and day off, or just new years day? I'm actually not totally sure and not looking forward to asking later this week, because I have a feeling I know what the answer will be...I know new years day is an official holiday but I don't think eve is, and just curious as to what policies are at different banks/groups.

I have to do some work from home but it's way better than being at the office. I had good timing and 'm not working on too many live deals right now but the wonderful senior bankers in my group decided to schedule a Board presentation for right after New Year's.... so chances are I'll be there at least New Year's Day for part of the time.

Bottom line is it's very dependent on group and workload (I actually wrote a post about Vacation Time today on my site), and if there's no reason for you to be there, you shouldn't be.

I remember last year everyone in my group including MDs was working through Christmas Eve/Christmas... amazing what you will do to try to close a deal by year end.

This is my first year in the biz... and i just got a call that i'd be working through christmas eve, christmas day and new years. he said sorry and thanks for having a good atittude about it. well... living the dream right? so any of you still workin it through the holidays... good luck to you and know that you are not alone.

Welcome to banking. Don't worry, it will all be over in 18 months (actually not quite that long because it gets better after your first year).

Not at night though, right?
