Is a part time MBA a good idea?
Hello,
Will keep it short. Considering going to school for my MBA. For whatever reason, my success on manhattan tests isn't translating to the score I want for full time programs. But, I am confident I can do part time at Booth or NW, both local. Curious if people did part time and how they managed both work and school and if it was worth it? Part time carries some stigma. I currently work in Big 4 transactions and I feel like an MBA opens some doors to more finance and strategy roles. Big 4 seems to carry a heavy accounting stigma itself and I want to shed it. Finally, I know NW will accelerate your program and you can finish quicker. I am prepared to quit working to do this in like 1.5 years. Has anyone done that? My post career goals are not to work in consulting, would love to get into corp finance and real estate investing and Asset Management.
Thanks
I cannot speak from personal experience, but I have spoken with others regarding this subject. From what they have told me, doing it part-time will be hectic and hard, but you will finish with fewer loans. On the contrary, if you do it full-time you will have much better networking opportunities.
If you have a job at a company you love, and there is a top-50 school in your city, and the only thing that's holding you back from advancing is the lack of a grad degree, and your company is willing to pay or at least help pay for the classes, then yes, a part-time MBA makes a whole lot of sense.
Otherwise...
I am actually looking to leave my current role. Think even if I jump to corporate, I'll need an MBA ton advance.

You need to scale down your GMAT estimates. 99th percentile vs. a sample that is essentially forced to take the exam is far different than 99th percentile vs. a driven population that is already ambitious and takes the exam out of choice.
When you say you have a few dings on your record, are you talking about arrests?
I also think your GMAT Quant section expectations are a little unreasonable. GMAT Quant is not math - it is a sick logic game specifically designed to crush people who are good in math.
