Pass/No Passing Pre-Requisite Class
Hi WSO.
I'm a student in a target school who is currently taking a Statistics class that is a prerequisite for my major. The thing is, this class is heavily curved, and I'm taking another quantitative class that's very demanding of my time/effort. It's past my school's drop deadline, and our school doesn't have an option to withdraw past the deadline.
So what I'm considering is taking the class Pass/No Pass (similar to Pass/Fail or Credit/No Credit options in other schools) and taking a statistics class (without a curve) that also fulfills the prerequisite requirement for my major at a later time so that I can get a good grade. However, in order to be eligible to take this future class, I MUST get a No Pass for my current statistics class.
My question is, do consulting firms or employers in general in the business world closely scrutinize your transcripts? Would a No Pass look bad on my transcript for recruiting with consideration that I will get a much higher grade in the future in a course that basically "replaces" the current class I'm taking?
The trade off is either:
A. I stick with this class and end up with a C+ or at best a B- and do poorly on my other courses due to the demands of this course, but at least not have a NP
or
B. Take this class NP, which looks slightly iffy, but doesn't impact my GPA, and then take basically the same class in the future (that has no curve) and get an A.
I'm mainly worried if the NP will hurt me for job prospects in the future.
