PE part-time gig interview prep
New comer here,
I'm currently a finance major at UMD who has, ironically, not worked in finance but product management, accounting, and IS. Recently, I was offered an interview at a PE firm in DC for a part-time program that would only last through my fall semester. The recruiter communicated to me that they aren't currently recruiting for full time positions but as someone who has finally decided on a career in finance, I think it's more than an excellent opportunity. Though I am remaining realistic about my chances, I expect interview and time spent preparing will provide valuable experience.
What I'm thinking the best way to prepare is to purchase the PE interview prep package from WSO and spend the next two weeks reinforcing what I've learned about financial modeling back at school as well working with their interview question guide. The interview is "one to three hours" so I am expecting at least an lbo model plus qualitative questions. Does anyone have any thoughts on what to expect or which technical skills to focus on given the conditions on the opportunity?
Thanks ahead of time!
