What kind of strategies does everyone use in their personal accounts that are more interesting than the basic long/short but don't require significant surveillance at work? Besides things like 2+ month option strategies and the cover call what else does everyone use in their portfolio?

...may not be trading but you're much more likely to make money with this over the long term. The number of people achieving satisfactory returns through part-time trading in PAs is vanishingly small, whatever anecdotes you may hear.
