Plz share with me about career problems
Hi everyone,
I accidentally know this forum because I searched the finance knowledge in google. For a short introduction, I am 27 and have two years as market research in invest consulting, 06 months as KYC clerk for ANZ bank and then 02 years as a research officer for a rep office of a Korean Bank. During the time with the Korean Bank, I got a Msc in finance/treasury. Now I finished the job and having trouble with finding a new job or a new orientation. I have to struggle with unemployment by applying for many position that relates to my experience but no results. For investment officer or investment consultant, I keep failing because they said my technical skills are weak. For corporate finance/treasury job, of course no hope because they said I had no experience. I used to attend interview for investment officer in a commercial bank, for fix income officer in a local fund, went through three rounds interviewing with the C suite but all come to nothing. By the way, I live in an emerging market in South East Asia. Could anyone here plz share with me about the same troubles or any solutions so that I can identify orientation for new career.
Networking is key.
Talk to your previous employers and see if they have any available positions or if your ex-coworkers know anyone that is hiring.
tks for your sharing, I tried both networking and ex-managers, but all the positions are irrelevant to me. My ex-manager referred me to interview for a teller position in another bank. :((
It would not hurt to apply via websites, many people claim that they are blackholes, but I know a few people who submitted their resumes via online application (without networking) and were able to get offers. It is all a numbers game, though it may be slightly more difficult in your case because of your age/experience.
yup, last time I got the interview invitation for fix income officer by applying on their website. After the interview round with the CEO, they sent a rejection letter. About the help from the ex-manager, I even accept the interview for teller position to get out of unemployment. But in the end they still decline with a reason "you are so ambitious". I felt too much bitter why ambition is also a disadvantage
