M&A and Post Merger Integration
Hi there,
I have been contacted by a recruiter for a Corporate M&A role (F500).
The recruiter has pointed out, that besides the usual M&A stuff, I would be heavily involved in the post merger integration of acquired companies.
Do you guys have any insights in such a role?
The recruiter also pointed out that the next step could be the CFO position of one of the acuired companies.
Any thoughts?
Thank!
Most Corp Dev roles play a large part during integration unless it's a very large company that has a very clear division between deal teams and other corporate finance functions (for instance, I believe Google specifically hires accounting backgrounds into their corporate finance team to focus on post-merger integration). My company is relatively small, so our team plays a large role during integration and getting the FP&A function up and running before moving on to the next big thing.

I have noticed many consulting firms have post merger integration groups. Do PE firms tend to hire analyst from these groups?
It seems pretty relevant since you do merger management, due diligence, joint ventures, portfolio management, and other private equity related work
In some cases they allocate (from their firm) one or few guys to check upon things/manage their portfolio company. Doubt that they would actually recruit anyone for the job.
Post merger integration: Yay or nay? (Originally Posted: 08/01/2016)
Hi all!
I am actually working in Big 4 TAS, and my team deals primarily with commercial due diligence and post-merger integration.
Currently, I have been working on CDD deals, and have yet to be on PMI deals. While I have asked from my colleagues how are PMI projects like, I will like to have an opinion from the forums and see what u guys think.
Anybody may enlighten me on what is a typical PMI project and the type of due diligence to be conducted? Furthermore, what are the prospects from doing PMI? I thinking if corporate development is possible or a PE house in their PMI team.
Appreciate any insights u guys have!
