Potentially Dumb Recruting question(s)

if you dont see a posting on your career center website, then try reaching out to alums that work at whichever bank you are interested in. given the fact that your from HYP, you should access to many alums at banks like MS.

But sometimes, they just don't hire for specific divisions. I think GCM is general capital markets at MS but I could be wrong. You could always e-mail your schools' recruiting center.

In addition to buysideguy's suggestion, I always found it helpful to call the HR contacts listed on these positions. Introduce yourself and let them know that you're interested in IBD and would like to get in contact with the recruiters for the IBD division. They might not have listed the position yet, but either way it will demonstrate your interest and proactiveness.

Strange... but a MS IBD resume drop/preselect is set up at my school

MS is doing IBD at Stern I believe.

i don't go to a target, but MS still recruits for IBD at my school. As a matter of fact,we are having an IBD presentation on Feb 5th. They don't recruit for PWM or S&T at my school though. You go to HYP so I don't see much of a problem for you to actually get an internship there in IB.

MS did not accept one new analyst for this full-time class that was not a summer who received an offer. I am sure they will take some SA's, but on a very limited basis.

My target school, already has pre-select interview dates set up for MS IBD. Maybe its just an error on part of your schools career services?

Sometimes, investment banks like to assign certain schools to certain divisions which they feel are excellent matches. I know some schools only get recruited for operations and some only for sales and trading like CMU is heavily recruited in that division. Other schools are specifically recruited for banking.

I mean, the market is pretty bad but it's not quite THAT bad yet, at least I didn't think so. A target like HYP should be recruited pretty heavily so it's odd that they don't have a slot for IBD.

I would be persistent and call the appropriate alumni to make sure your resume gets submitted... some people would just give up in this situation so you can get an advantage and make yourself stand out if you are proactive.
