Preferred Route to Corporate

Dear all,

I'm a senior majoring in Finance from a local university that recently completed an IBD summer stint at a mid-tier BB in an international (non-US) office in the same country as my university, from which i managed to receive a return offer. I enjoyed my time during the internship, but ultimately would like to transition over to the corporate route, either in corporate development or strategy.

After returning to college, i interviewed at a few other places, and managed to land a FT offer at a sizeable PE / investment management firm (unable to disclose more as it will be a very big giveaway), but unfortunately did not manage to receive a consulting offer (varying first to final round rejections at MBB).

My line of thinking would be that transitioning from consulting to corp strategy would allow for more exposure to the operational side of corporates, which i surmise would probably be a more diverse experience as compared to a financial analysis perspective in corp devt, however that did not materialise. This leaves me with making the decision of either taking the IBD or PE offer, and then hopefully transitioning to corp devt after 2 or 3 years. In light of this situation, which of the two offers would be seen more favourably when looking to make the transition in the future? I've been scouring old WSO threads but am still undecided at this point.

Some other information that might be useful would be that the IBD offer is for a generalist position, whereas the PE offer allows for specialisation in a particular sector. I am also open to going for B-school as well to make the transition to corporate strat / devt, so that might be of significance. Apologise if the information furnished might not be as complete, but willing to shed further light if that facilitates the discussion. Thanks in advance!
