Prepping for Prop Math/Finance Phone Interview

Hey everyone,

I have a a "30-45 minute math/finance phone interview" with a top tier prop trading firm. I'm planning on rereading Hull's book, but what kind of math should I expect for the most part?

Thanks,

In general, you'll get mental math. So practice doing basic arithmetic with two/three digit numbers in your head. The goal should be speed and accuracy although accuracy > speed if you can't get both down. Also things like 0.02 squared, square root of 0.04, and 9/11 in decimal form are common. In addition to those, you'll definitely get some brainteasers, but you should be fine if you've studied the "Heard on the Street" book. W.r.t. finance questions, I found that they never asked any "finance" questions in the first rounds and always focused on the math/brainteasers. If you're worried about it, Hull is definitely a good reference, maybe the first ten chapters or so. And remember, always think out loud so they can tell you aren't cheating with a calculator!
