Specific PE

Hey Guys,

Trying to look for an PE position after MBA, but in a specific field. In my case, Maritime Transport.

Any advise on how to target a specialised PE shop?

The problem is that most of the deal done are non-disclosed, and I have not been able to clearly identified who is investing in the sector, or who have just done a deal (based on other factors) which just happens to be a Maritime company.

I have some experience with a BB bank(not IBD department), and CB specialised in the sector. ok grade, at 3.7. Getting an MBA soon, any idea on how to target these kind of PE? Or do I even have a chance?

Thanks
SK

What geographic region are you in? I could pull a screen for you if you don't have access to CapIQ/Bberg/Factset.

Best bet would probably be to do hard research and then network as much as you can. This should at least get people to look at your CV or at least give you an idea of what you're missing to join them.

I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing. See my Blog & AMA

Alterna Capital Partners is another name that comes to mind

Also, I know firm like wilbur ross are also in this space...

This is an extremely narrow list (I was screening specifically for funds citing maritime shipping as target investments). I can come up with a broader transportation focused list if you are interested, which will probably be about 10x longer.
