Profile Needed For Schools Just Outside the Top 10

What kind of profile is needed to get into the schools just out of the top 10, such as Duke, UVA, UNC, Texas, CMU types? Although my dream schools are Ross or Haas, I'm not sure if those are within reach because of my GPA is crap (3.45-3.5 range) and my school isn't Wharton, so my work experience is likely not up to par for good schools since I probably won't have a name brand on my resume. Any idea what kind of GMATs I need and what I can do to strengthen my profile even without a name brand? Also, how much more selective are Ross/Haas? I know the M7 are out, but are Ross/Haas still a slightly attainable reach even with a 3.45 from a non-ivy undergrad?

thanks

so

you haven't started working yet and you are already thinking about MBA programs huh. you should focus on your work now rather than something you'll be doing in 4-5 years, if ever.

but to answer your question,

most programs, even the top ones, have average GPAs of 3.3-3.5, since you fall in that range it shouldn't be issue. GMAT needs to be 700+, work experience needs to show tangible signs of growth and leadership.

if you have decent work experience and a 700+ GMAT you should be able to get into a Ross, Georgetown, Texas type program, maybe even if a top 7 if you play your cards right.
