PwC Consulting to Strategy&

Hi, I am a junior headed into an internship in PwC's consulting arm this Summer. Strategy& didn't recruit at my school, but as I get closer to my internship, I think I would want to work in a more strategy-centric role full time. Does anyone have any insight or advice on how I could try to get a full-time offer in Strategy&? I know the organizational structure at PwC is tricky after the merger, but could I get a Strategy& offer just by networking alot with those people once I start my internship?

Best Response

Understandably, Strategy& is being very careful to maintain the quality of its personnel and PwC is obviously keen to protect the price point S& is able to charge at vis-à-vis PwC Consulting.

Do your best to network with Strategy& folks, but recognise that they are very conscious that the people coming in the back door have to have been good enough to get in the front door. The two firms are also still operating quite separately, so unless you are fortunate enough to get staffed on a joint engagement you may never meet Strategy& people unless you go out of your way to find them.

Networking might be able to get your CV in the pile for FT recruiting, but you’ll need to stand on your own two feet from there on.

yeah internship seems like a longer shot

reach out to someone senior at S& once you're 6+ months in and are actually useful / know how to do stuff. spend a weekend or two helping them make slides for a proposal or similar. ask them about getting staffed to one of their teams.

requires work (who wants to put in solid amounts of work after 15 hour days during the week?) but it would get you there. nut up.
