Reneging on a back office FT analyst job for a boutique IB offer?

Hey guys, I recently interned in the back office at a large commercial bank and ending up taking a full time job offer there a few weeks ago. The thing is I just got a fulltime IB/M&A offer at a boutique and the pay is about double. I know I have to renege on the back office job but what is the best way to do it? Call/email hr or my boss? and what do I say?

Lol. Renege the shit out of it. Even in the slimmest most hypothetical situation someone from your commercial bank were to call up your boutique and tell them you reneged, they'd get laughed off the phone. I'd probably call the guy who made the decision for you to receive a full time offer and email the rest. Congratulations bro

Agreed with the above.

I would call them and explain to them you received an offer you didn't anticipate and have decided to take it, but appreciate their offer and effort that went into hiring you.

Realistically, this company would axe you without a second thought if it was in their best interest- you don't owe them anything.
