SA S&T at BB > FT Equity Research BB

I'm a student at a semi-target university (top 10 British universities). I study economics and Chinese. GPA british equivalent is around 3.8. For economics my university is highly regarded. I have an SA position in S&T at BB bank but would like to work in Equity Research.

1) What are my chances of ER with this background? 2)-Is there anything I can do to strengthen my chances? 3) Is it a possible to change my internship for S&T to ER at my current BB, it starts june 25th 4) Will my chances be strong/higher of securing FT ER offer at the firm I have a summer internship with, due to having their brand name already. 5) Advice to network into ER from S&T

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

NB - british universities only have 3 years I am in 2nd year.

1) Seems like you'd be in good shape, especially if you're looking to stay and work in Europe. I think a fair number of people actually try to break into S&T from ER, and going the other way should be doable. 2) Network, network, network. 3) Probably 100% no, and it'd be extremely risky to try since you'll essentially be admitting that you won't want to stay on in the role, and/or that S&T wasn't actually your first choice when applying. I do not think they'd take this well. 4) Yes, if you do a great job and make everyone love you. 5) Email some people in ER at your firm over the summer and try to set up coffee chats with them, but don't overdo it.
