No, it is definitely unwise to short a market that is being artificially inflated. I agree with both of the above posters.
Eventually, the market has to correct (crash) but there are too many reasons for it to go up right now. With quantitative easing, upcoming elections, and the traditionally bullish falls months, I can't see any downside in this market short of a complete collapse in Europe or something equally severe.
Now, the market is way overvalued, but its not wise bet against a market that is being juiced by the fed. I'm long this market, yet I'll tell you I fully believe the S&P should be 900 if not lower.
look into companies' balance sheets and you might get a better sense
