So I only had ONE summer interview...

Damn....

I killed it! By the end he even gave me his personal e-mail to talk about personal interests (not that you queers) such as music, hoops and such. He was mad cool and we really hit it off. By the end it was so informal he started cursing and even I threw in some curses lol. Man it felt great, he said my resume was on point and wished I was in NYC a few more days for a 2nd interview with the bigger bosses but said a phone conversation will suffice. He also said he'll do his damn best to make sure I get this. Man that guy was cool.

Only negatives are this will be a cold-calling type of intership where I call lawyers, get them itnerested, hand the phone to someone certified. Also, I only get a monthly stipend of 400-800 and he even said it has to be a stipend b/c in the end I'll end up working so many hours that if it was a wage it'd be below minimum.

You see the effort I put into this? All those with negative, illogical criticisms can...well you can figure that one out.

Dude, you are one of the most annoying people on this forum. That is great that you found someone to work for but the fact that you created an entire thread for the sole purpose of showcasing your own merits is ridiculous. Chill out...

i mean if someone can dedicate entire threads to bashing ALL non-targets, I feel as if this thread is justified. And btw, there are a few cool people on this forum that know me better that are happy to hear this news. And to all those that helped (you all know who you are) thank you.

but there is no need to create a post boasting of your success.

also to respond to your quote about people with illogical and negative criticism, if you had landed a top BB job, you could make this point. however you really shouldn't be running around bragging about making $800 to cold call all day.

The first internship is always the bull-shiat one. After that is the decent paid internship, then the summer biggie. At least that's how it went for me.

And yes, this thread is completely unnecessary, and yes, college freshman/sophomores are really annoying...especially the ones that send you private messages asking for your nyu careernet password....

I don't care how well the interview went, it is a mistake to curse in front of an interviewer. If he tosses a few at you, don't get thrown off; maybe it worked for you this time but I do know of situations of 2 on 1 interviews, where 1 interviewer tossed out a couple of "hells" and "that was a real bitch of a project" and the interviewee tossed a few back later on, and was dinged.

Not just for you, but anyone else reading this.

Yury-

1) You didn't get an offer yet

2) Even if you do get an offer, you will take a $$ loss this summer overall

3) Doing PWM at GS/MS/ML, while not incredibly helpful, is somewhat helpful because at least you get a big name on your resume. It sounds to me like you'll just be doing bullshit work at a no-name firm, and it even seems that the work isn't related to finance (cold calling lawyers?) This isn't the type of thing that is going to impress GS/MS/ML next year.

The point is, don't get excited. You have a lot of work to do if you hope to one day end up in a serious Investment Banking position. It is possible though...but you need a major attitude change. Tough love.

thanks hip2status, some good constructive criticism. I mean I'm just a sophomore to be, so next year I'll hopefully get the "legit" analyst with the modeling internship and then the year after that go after the big dogs. Will I be a telemarketer? meh. Was I 100% sure before I cursed? abso-fucking-lutely. He also did mention how this "telemarketing" rakes in millions for a few in the group and the group only has a dozen or so people (just one division). Yes it's a boutique bank and it looked like a scene out of boiler room, but it's a start. Taking a $$$ loss? Definitely, but you can't achieve without some sort of sacrifice. Maybe I'm annoying to some, but you bothered replying in a similarly annoying fashion...and sternfox, can I get your NYU pw?

I would seriously consider working at home in Pittsburgh. I honestly don't see how this would be better than any other job you could get there, and at least there you could hang out with your friends and make some money.

Also, probably not a good idea to call those who are helping you annoying.

well the fact that i cant find a job here might be a problem. most of my friends have either become druggies in college or are on the same route as me in other majors trying to make something out of themselves. if a boutique here gave me a job I'd take it, but they didnt, so I'm latching on to the one and only opportunity I seem to have.

So this was the place that made you pay for your hotel/travel? And is now not even going to pay you a living wage? And it looks like some place out of Boiler Room?

Dude get out before they harvest your organs.

You've already gotten an interview at a bank, why are you so worried now? Shit just go home and enjoy the summer, it's not like you're going to have too many chances later on.

wait...why are you bragging about this position if basically the reason you took it was because you didn't make it anywhere else

make it anywhere else? retard...I didnt know where or how to apply for an internship so I was too late for all the banks. I went to pitt b/c i wasnt the best HS student, not sure if this has any relevance but my family is fiscally stable.

Don't listen to them BoI, you have the desire and motivation to at least land something out of freshman year. I think everyone on this board knows that it is only a PWM gig and you will be incurring a loss at the end of the summer, but if you make the most of whatever connections you are provided and explore NYC, you will come off as a more interesting and well-rounded individual. I think the point that other people are trying to make is that banking, for one firm or another, is not that hard to get into if you follow the path early, and that you should take the time to enjoy college and the friends you make for life. Either way, just some words of encouragement.

thanks dude, but I enjoy THIS. I do want to hang out and make friends, but with people like me. I love nyc, i mean the city is amazing and i found the entire bank atmosphere great. yeah so what it's a boutique, it's in a nice building on a street filled to the brim with other nic ebanks. there's a steel door and inside it's like boiler room. and i fucking love it. do i have a life? of course. came into nyc friday night, hung out with friends saturday and sunday and went to one short interview on monday. dont know how anyone could categorize that as a boring person with no life.
