I'm currently interning at a boutique bank. They pay their "Summer Analysts" (By this I assume you mean interns?) a stipend of $500/month. I've heard that once you move out of the boutique range a bank would pay a summer analyst the same as they would a normal analyst (minus the bonus of course). Maybe somewhere in the range of $10 - $12k for 3 months.

so the banks i mentioned above should pay like ......500/week?

depends on if its a boutique or a MM "boutique" i think. the later pays near street, the former could be anything.

Compbanker you work at America's Growth Capital. I remember reading they pay 500/month.

"$500/month" Is it even worth working for that wage..I bet you spend more on living expenses in a month...or are these positions usually taken up to gain experience for future BB internships..

but seriously.what are you supposed to do, live off your credit card?

It's an investment, and it's only 10 weeks. Money is irrelevant. Especially when you are 40, you won't care that you missed out on 8K 20 some summers ago. You can easily make that back. You might regret not having an internship though, because it builds up to a lot of other things.

Btw, two of my friends interned at Morgan Stanley this summer and had offers from DB. They could have made twice as much working for DB than MS. (since DB gives overtime pay to summers) They both got offers now from MS and I am sure the NPV of choosing MS over DB is positive. (Don't get me wrong though, DB is great.)

I-Banking Internships are, in my opinion, the biggest resume booster you can possibly have. The experience you are getting trumps any cash that another company might offer. The real truth is, as posted above, in 5 - 10 years the difference of 5-10k is going to be nothing to someone who stayed in the industry.

All of the other interns, those who are still in school and those who have graduated, are living off either their parents or loans or money saved up. Like I said, if you need cash immediately, it doesn't work. But if you have money saved up or are willing to go into the red, it will most likely pay for itself in the future.

Warren <span class=keyword_link><a href=http://tinyurl.com/3b4fmvt rel=nofollow>Buffett</a></span>:
I just got a summer offer from a small bank in nyc, and compensation is $1050 per week, plus time and a half for overtime. Talking to SA friends at BB, I hit the jackpot.

lmao
