Summit Partners Interview Process

Does anyone have experience with interviewing at Summit Partners in recent history? I was looking into their site and business model and I think their sourcing model is a great fit with my background and skill set.

Understand the interview process will involve a walk through resume, potential cold call, deal discussion, why growth equity, why sourcing, discussion on portfolio companies...

It would really help me out if people with knowledge could post or PM me any additional insight on Summit and their recruiting process.

Thanks in advance!

no idea on the interview process, but i know a couple of guys that worked there and i'll tell you this - be very cautious about working with these guys. while you may think the sourcing format is a good fit for you, you will literally spend the vast majority of your time doing this. i don't know about others, but i would have hated after a few years going through a rigorous analyst program to then spend hours cold calling all day. they may tell you it's a great way to leak through this 'apprenticeship' model, but that's bullshit. cold calling is not something that requires a high intellectual capacity and you may find yourself getting sick of it fairly quickly.

This may be true, but the one thing I will say is that Summit associates (as well as TA - even though that is a somewhat different model) from what I have seen punch above their weight in terms of jobs and post-MBA positions, and I think that is because 2 years of cold calling makes you significantly more polished/well-spoken than 2 more years of building lbo models. It might be a tough experience for 2 years but it seems to be a great way to force yourself to become better at sales and speaking well, which ultimately becomes important at the senior level at any role (not to mention interviewing for other jobs post-program or post-MBA).
