Texbook suggestion, and valuation question
I am majoring in finance, and I would like to practice financial modelling on Excel more on my own time.
Are there any suggested textbooks that show in detail the major types of financial modeling in Excel an analyst would typically do at an I-bank/M&A firm? I searched the forum and saw that a book titled "Investment Banking: Valuations, LBO, M&A" is recommended, and I will get that. However, I would like another book that goes further in depth with a lot of examples of the models one would create in Excel.
Secondly, I've seen that some I-banks have specific valuations groups. What I'm not sure of is if these groups are seperate from actual IBD groups. How much of the modeling an I-banking analyst does involves company valuations, or is most of the financial modelling something else? I would appreciate any clarification.

Go to this thread //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/revamped-ultimate-peibd-interview-recrui… Marcus is selling a whole bunch of PE/IB materials he has accumulated over the years including a real KKR model that you can use for reference. It has pretty much everything you need from interview prep, models, etc. Also he included bonus materials that included the IB book you mentioned above plus more. Honestly a great deal. You'll end up paying more just purchasing a few books off amazon anyways.
