Too late for 2013 start date?

Hey so I am thinking of applying to bschool this fall, but was wondering if I am a little behind as far as applications go. I just started studying for GMAT's about 2 weeks ago (plan on taking the exam by the end of august) and I haven't even looked at any applications yet not to mention I haven't spoken to any of my managers about LOR's yet. am i too late to apply Early Decision/R1 this year? How long did applications take you guys to complete? I'm hoping to apply to 3 schools R1 and it looks like deadlines for R1 apps are early/mid Oct. Is this enough time to craft 3 quality applications to apply for R1 assuming I shouldn't be too busy at work?

Also for ppl that hired an admission consultant, how quickly is the typical turnaround time? should i be reaching out to admission consultants now while im still prepping for my GMATs to ensure they have the capacity to take me on in a month or so when i take my exam and begin my application process?
