Transfer from GS/MS

I am pretty torn right now:

I am hitting the line in a couple of weeks at a certain industry group at GS/MS.
As I am now realizing, my group has not closed a deal in forever and is seriously overstaffed. The 2nd year analysts told me that all they do is pitch, never live deal work.

I am debating whether, given this situation, I should try to transfer groups within my bank.
I don't know any higher ups at the other groups, however, so I am not really sure what to do.

The other alternative, assuming my experience is as bad as the 2nd years suggest, is to try to jump to an elite boutique or GS/MS (the one I am not in). This would probably piss people off though since they are spending all this time and money training me...

What should I do, and how can I do it?

Your advice would be much appreciated.

You're not jumping to any boutique without some sort of experience. I say you need to experience it first-hand -- if it's as bad as they claim, start looking early next year. The name and BB training you go through should make you valuable to some top boutiques looking to add some experienced analysts.

Thanks for the feedback. Any other advice from experienced monkeys?

I am just really frustrated that everyone from the group sold-sold-sold to me until we had a happy hour in the beginning of training, after which point a few of them came to me "confidentially" and told me the "real deal."
