Trazer Mental Math Challenge - Your move imposters
Use 8 8 3 and 3 to make 24.
You must use all 4 numbers. You are only allowed to use the 4 basic operators (add, subtract, multiply and divide).
You do not have to use all the operators, and can use some more than once if required.
If you have to ask if brackets are allowed you need to be shot.
No number placement gimmicks or roman numeral solutions, this one is genuine mathematics.
If you've seen it before, its obviously easy, please dont post the answer, but feel free to comment. If you haven't good luck. I have given this to many mathematics experts, including school teachers (who are very quick on this level of maths), and university professors. Some have threatened me with violence for the answer. Noone has answered it in a relatively short time frame correctly.
I walked in on the answer, which is how I know the question. I don't believe I would have gotten it.
8/(1/3)=24 1/3=3-8/3
this is a good one!!!!!!!!!!! CONGGRATULATIONS, Will!!!!!!
Didn't you use 3 three times?
Dude...just stick in the (1/3) part into 8/(1/3)...
Does it equal exactly 24?
yes it does.
Very nice Will Hunting
Very nice Will Hunting - in how you broke it down
i dont think i can edit my post because it was awarded an SB.
someone fling two dookies at will so he can edit his post
8 * 3 = 24 /3 =8* 3= 24? - that's all I can think of every other way I got to 24.3......this is a silver banana thread if I had one left, got me thinking.
8*8=64/3 =21.3 + 3 = 24.3 - 1/3 = 24?
Where did that extra 3 come from?
This is an interesting one because you only use subtract and divide to make a bigger number, which is what makes it so hard to find mentally.
