Undergrad Decision
This is my first post on WSO so sorry if I screw anything up. I have been accepted to Drexel in Philadelphia and Virginia Tech. I was denied at Wharton and UVa (I was kind of surprised I wasn't admitted to UVa). I'm still waiting to hear from William and Mary, NYU, and Georgetown. Assuming I am not admitted to the three I'm waiting on, where should I go? I have always hated everything about Virginia Tech and Southwest Virginia. I don't qualify for any financial aid so Drexel would be a little expensive. I'm going to try to transfer to Wharton if I can. I kind of screwed up my junior year in high school with two Bs so that's why I didn't get accepted at UVa. By the way, I want to go into investment banking or M&A. PLEASE HELP ME
Depends on how much the difference is between the CoA @ Drexel and the CoA @ Va Tech. Also depends on how much that difference means to you/your parents. If the financials aren't all that different then just go with Drexel considering you see it as a better experience.
Oh and I was WLed by UVa. Probably because of my extremely shitty freshman and sophomore grades.
For 4 years the difference between CoA at Tech and Drexel is almost $160,000. I would enter as a second semester sophomore at Tech and probably Drexel as well but I really want to graduate from Penn (need to transfer). I've heard Tech is far from being a target school too. Not entirely sure about Drexel. That's why I started this conversation.
Neither school has an advantage over the other from a recruiting standpoint, if that's your primary concern. If there is any distinction, it's not worth $160K. Why don't you just wait to hear from the other schools before you stress out too much?

You should apply to Mich, IU, Vandy, and Penn State.
I'll wait but I don't expect any good news. If I get in to any one of the schools I'm waiting on, I will end up going there.
160k is just way too much. If you do get rejected by NYU, GTown and W&M, you should take the Va Tech offer. Look even if you transfer out, you're going to be paying 40k extra for that first year. Considering how little difference there is between Va Tech and Drexel academically and recruiting-wise, it just doesn't make sense.
I'll see what happens. The wait for decisions sucks.
Yeah, it does. So far my count is 4 rejections and 2 waitlist offers. Still waiting for decisions from Emory, UMich, USC, Cal and NYU. I reckon it's much worse for American kids who have everything riding on these decisions. Though you guys apply to safety schools in the US which we internationals usually do not do.
Tech and Drexel are my safety schools.
VA Tech is a much better school, and I would go there as long as you can afford it over Drexel, even if it was out of state (I know it's cheaper, so go there!)
BU was my (half) safety school. Waitlisted me. Probably yield protection, but you never know.
I should have applied to IU or PSU. I'd easily pick IU over BU and it's even a slightly easier admit. Just got too lazy and didn't feel like writing an app seperate from the common app.
