What looks worse...asking for work and screwing it up slightly or just not even asking for work?
I'm wondering, what looks worse.... Asking for work and screwing it up slightly when you have just started or not even asking for work. I've started my internship just last week and obviously am still learning the ropes about the organization of our files, etc... and today got a bit of a lecture about taking more time to look over stuff and ask questions if I need help.
I'm thinking showing initiative and obviously improving your work over time would be the best way to go about doing tasks.
Ask for work and ask for help if you're not sure. Would you rather sit around and do nothing or just leave? It's really up to you I guess, but I would rather want my guy to be active.
My last boss tore into me for not asking him about a simple procedure...
Well if you're doing nothing obviously ask for work. But if you're working on multiple deals there's no reason for you to jump on another one.
ask for work when ur bored and as an SA, you will make mistakes - the key is to not make the same mistake twice and always ask questions when you are not sure of something
Thanks for your help ibanalyst. I did make the same mistakes twice, but have since corrected my errors and continued to ask for work so I can get exposed to a wide variety of new things.
