Who looks at SEO apps?
alums from your school who went through SEO or SEO alums across all banks?
also what if you apply to banks, get rejected, but you get in SEO, how does SEO put you in a bank if none of their partner firms took you?
Ultimately it’s the decision of the in person SEO interviewer if you get a position with SEO. Although in most cases other people are present, my for instance was from ML.
As for your second question, I doubt anyone applies to all 12 partner banks and gets rejected from all of them since most SEO offers have already been given out starting on December 1st. While most IB on campus interviewing is around Feb. But if you were in the situation where you were rejected from all banks, I believe SEO could not put you in any with any bank and would just take back their offer.
I know I'm the sort of unofficial SEO rep here on this board, as the alumni fellowship ends today. JMI is not completely correct. There's a couple of people that look over your app and decide whether you get the offer.
If you did apply to all the banks and got rejected from all of them, SEO would not rescind your offer. I know plenty of people who got rejected from some of the SEO partner firms through regular recruiting, and got placed with them anyway through SEO.

Kerchak, could you shed some light to the selection of firm for each intern. Around which date did they inform you?
I was selected for second round last year but didn't even get to the first round this year as my stats have improved.. perhaps it is because I applied to HK instead of the global finance leadership one..
But for everyone else out there.. you should definitely give SEO a shot.. it seems like a really good program if admitted..

Firms: It's supposed to be secret. As far as what's out in the public, a panel gets together and argues your placement back and forth. They decide on your background, and your personality. They also take into consideration any outstanding offers you have and whether you want more of the same (ex: full-service investment bank) or something different (universal investment bank).
Timing: It's the very last thing you hear about prior to SEO on campus/online tranining. Don't worry about it.
