Will I shoot myself in the foot?
Hi fellow monkeys,
need your advice and experience, which i'm sure many of you have gone through
When applying for jobs, do potential employers ever try and call your current company to poke around about you while your stil there. I really want to apply to other places, but i'm afraid that someone i interview may no a person at my bank, call them up, and throw me under the bus. Does this happen or typically if a company likes you, there no going to try and blow up your current spot like that? I work in capital markets and obviously on mandates we coordinate with other banks. I'm just afraid of this blowing up in my face.
any one want to share experiences. much appreciated.
please, can anyone help? even a quick response will do! thanks
Typically people don't have time to try to screw you over, but if they are really good friends with someone at your bank, then yes, it can happen.
I seen it happen....
So be careful.......
no.
thanks for the input. im actually hestitate to apply to this one position, because two people that recently joined my bank have from the place that im applying.
is it worth it to apply?
IMO, do it if you been at your current job at least a year be careful if you been there for less than 6 months
I have found it not to be that big of deal. Most banks have encouraged networking to fullest extent. And those leaving are helped out. Id talk more with the 2 you brought up, you might even get a helping hand out of it.
But any bit of old fashioned loyalty or die superiors could F you.
what about if i'm right in the middle? like 10months in?
your call on that
anyone else have any input? does it hurt to even apply? thanks again
People come and people go. That's how Banks see it. As long as you're good with your boss and people in your surroundings, I'm sure you'll be fine.
