Please describe the interview / hiring process.
For my school we had an alumni and current VP at GS come down to campus in order to choose two students to go to one of Goldman's superdays. Our undergraduate advising office collected resumes for review and approximately 12 students were chosen to do on campus interviews with two GS employees. This was for Goldmans Sales & Trading Summer Analyst program in New York City. Fortunately I was chosen from this group along with one other student to attend a superday about a month later. At the superday all candidates gathered in a room (15 to 20) of us. Then the group was taken to an area with different offices. Each office had two GS employees who interviewed candidates. All of us individually had four separate back to back interviews lasting approximately 30 minutes each. This was done at Goldman's headquarters in downtown NYC. In terms of my perception of the culture and atmosphere, it was great. All the interviewers were friendly and well put together. I got the sense that the culture was very dynamic and fast paced. In terms of preparation, I would recommend "getting your story down tight." In other words, multiple times I was asked why my school, why finance, why Goldman? Candidates need to be able to succinctly answer these questions without hesitation.
