M7 MBA w/ sub 3.0 GPA chances of Top Tier Consulting?
I'm a current M7 MBA student with sub 3.0 GPA and wanted to get honest feedback on chances of top tier consulting job post-MBA? I think I am too low for MBB, but does anyone have any insights into any sort of GPA requirements/screening at Deloitte, A.T. Kearney, Booz, Accenture, PwC, E&Y, Strategy&?
no
Have sub 3.0 GPA and got 2/3 MMB interviews after networking my ass off. We'll see next week if they turn into anything though.
Thanks! Good luck with your interviews!
Hey there, hope you don't mind me asking, but any news from your interviews? Hope they turned out well!
Made two very dumb math mistakes on my MBB’s so did not get those, although in one of my feedback calls the dude said they loved getting to know me and wanted to invite me back for a full time interview. Otherwise I received offers from 3 of the places mentioned in your topic. So pretty happy overall. How did you do?
it's not technically a barrier. i had a low undergrad gpa from MBA business schools">M7 (not sub 3 but like 3.1) and got MBB
My undergrad GPA is fine, but I am more concerned with my MBA GPA.
Presumably the rest of your app (GMAT, brands on your resume, extracurriculars) must have been solid/competitive if you got into an MBA business schools">M7 with a low GPA. By that I mean par for the course: circa 720 GMAT, recognizable employer and undergrad, etc.
If so, you'll get interviews.
Case prep and interviewer rapport (in that order) will matter more.
Thank you for your insight. I am not worried about my undergrad GPA, but more my current low MBA GPA. So if I am hearing you correctly, a low MBA GPA is not necessarily a hard barrier to getting interviews, and that I should focus on case prep and networking?
There's nothing you can do about your GPA, so you might as well shift all focus to case prep and networking.
And idk if it's common in MBA recruiting to ask for GPAs during interview, but if so, be prepared to maintain confidence and poise when you give your answer, and provide a good explanation if they ask (and if there is one).
This is for internship recruiting? Not a ton of focus is placed on MBA business schools">M7 GPA's because there's not a lot of time before recruiting starts. It's just a semester. It's more important outside of the MBA business schools">M7 where they need to filter more folks out. It will also matter if your schools is on a curve etc.
At the end of the day, it might cost you AN opportunity, but it won't close the door on ALL opportunities. Nothing you can do about it now anyways.
Shoulda gone to Booth (#nondisclosure)
What does this mean?
(You) should have gone to Booth?
or
(I) should have gone to Booth?
Are you saying you went to Booth and recommend the same?
