New to ER - Approaching Work Related Questions?

Currently work in ER. On a lean team and have a lot to learn. I cover a new sector I haven’t had much experience in. A lot of times I notice I get stuck on questions and spend a long time trying to learn / figure things out. Occasionally I ask on here for advice on culture-related, technical or general topics like comp etc.
When questions / uncertainties come up, should I just ask people on my floor or post on here? Only downside to here is random people, trolls and occasionally no responses

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's important to strike a balance between figuring things out on your own and asking for help. Here are a few tips:

  1. Try to solve the problem yourself first: Spend some time researching and trying to understand the issue at hand. This will not only help you learn but also show your team that you're proactive and willing to put in the effort.

  2. Don't hesitate to ask questions: If you're still stuck after doing your own research, don't hesitate to ask your colleagues. As mentioned in the WSO threads, there's no shame in not knowing everything. It's better to ask a question and learn than to remain silent and not understand something crucial.

  3. Use online resources wisely: Posting on forums like WSO can be helpful, but as you mentioned, the responses can be hit or miss. Use these platforms as a supplement to your own research and the knowledge of your team.

  4. Build a reputation for being inquisitive: As highlighted in the WSO content, asking questions can actually enhance your reputation. It shows that you're eager to learn and understand things fully.

Remember, everyone has been in your shoes at some point, and most people will be understanding and willing to help. So don't be afraid to ask questions, whether it's to your colleagues or on online platforms.
