Driver shoes?

I've seen these shoes around more casual office environments and at every fraternity function. Does anyone know if they're comfortable? Would you wear them to the office?

Is it worth grabbing on to the tail end of this shoe trend or just waiting for the next one?

Driver shoe

I'm wearing drivers now. Get some sapphire waterproofing, suede cleaner and a brush. They get relatively dirty fast.

Baby powder or hidden socks as well.

Tod's make leather driving shoes but the little rubber gommino wear out very quickly on anything but carpet. THey are really for walking to your car, driving and walking back to the hotel. I suggest that if you do get a pair with the gommino that you bring them to a highly qualified cobbler to have a rubber sole fitted. Or even better, Tod's make a pair with a solid sole that are more useful for day to day use if you are not keeping them as driving only shoes (what I do).

If you find a good cobbler they should be able to put a solid sole on. I had it done with my first pair that I started to use as general shoes after a while. They are still in great shape, just a little leather cream and waterproofer.

I always wondered: why would you get these instead of "regular" loafers?

(I own neither, but have always been more loafer-oriented.)
