Research Analyst at HF
What exactly does a research analyst do at a HF? Is there any role similar at a BB?
For example this description from Two Sigma:
Your responsibilities will include: closely monitoring academic research (finance, accounting, and economics) and practitioner literature to create and refine investment ideas/strategies; manipulating, cleaning and analyzing large datasets with the intent to conduct bias-free simulations; developing intuitions and ideas for predicting equity returns; and communicating research progress and results on a regular basis.
Practically can someone talk about what their work looks like?
tabthe interesting name is your name tabatha
two sigma is a quantitative hedge fund, thus y the description and function is a little different from other hf analyst positions. at funds other than quant u r basically doing research on individual companies, sectors, products etc. to find the best risk adjusted opportunities and putting money to work. at quant funds the goal's the same, make money, but u r using data/numbers to make decisions.
This is y each strategy is unique in its own way, and should always choose the one you like, because you can get pig holed. macro, quant, special stutations, l/s require very different skill set with the same ultimate goal, make money.
