Perella Weinberg phone interview - Summer analyst
Hi,
I have a phone interview (30 min) with Perella London coming up next week. Any tips/advice? Any of you fellow monkeys been through this?
What can I expect? Is this a typical HR interview or will it already get technical?
I'm from a big target, dunno if this changes things.
Thanks a bunch guys.
Mine was for New York FT but I would assume there'd be some similarities. It was done by a director. Behavioral focused on why IBD and why a boutique instead of BB, so be sure to have a solid answer for that. It was very technical and accounting heavy. Be very comfortable explaining how any variety of events moves through the three statements. As long as you're good on your accounting and valuations you should be totally fine.
Hope this helps!
Thank MrF!
Ok I'll make sure to brush up on my accounting and valuation notions.
By the way, recruiting has just started in the UK and this must be a pretty standardized procedure with students from all the top UK targets. Since it's a summer analyst position, do you think it might be entirely HR based? (strengths, weaknesses, why IB, why boutique and not BB? etc.)
It could be. The only HR interview I ever had was for a UBS SA position and they just called it an initial phone screen so I really had no idea whether it'd be HR or not. I'd try to study as much as possible just in case it's not HR. You'll have to do this anyway once you have later interview rounds so it can't hurt to start now.
Hey actiblue41, I just wanted to know if you already had any news after your phone interview. I got one last week which went pretty well but still haven't got any news yet ... What about you ?
haven't had it yet. They said they'd organize a campus event first and then conduct the phone interviews.
Okey so you had the phone interview and waiting like me ? If you haven't, PM me if you want we talk about mine ;)
Hi, are you from the LSE by any chance?

Hey guys, so I attended this mysterious campus event today(LSE) for which they obviously moved the phone interviews. Spoke to the head of recruiting and she said the phone rounds would be a "casual conversation" and she used to words "nothing technical". Having said that, she said the entire process from now would take another 3-4 until offers will be extended so I would advise anyone to "brush up on their technicals ASAP because for round 2 you will need it. Would you guys mind sharing some of the "casual conversation" questions they asked? Thanks a lot!
Perella Weinberg SA Interview? (Originally Posted: 01/27/2009)
Greetings fellow IBers,
I was wondering if any of you had insights on the Perella Weinberg SA interview process, is it very technical or more fit based? After much searching of old posts, I see that people keep saying that it's a very well reputed boutique bank with lots of great senior guys. Yet I haven't found a single post describing the interview, which seems very strange.
Perhaps because they are small, not many people have interviewed with them? I was just wondering if you guys had an personal experiences with the company?
Interview advice would be very much appreciated too if possible!
Thanks,
monkey
Bump. I am interested as well.
is it me or does anyone else here think desiree is hot? HR i believe
The world has changed. And we must change with it.
If no interview insight, could someone at least comment on what it would be like to work at Perella in terms of deal flow, exposure, and exit opps?
I feel like some of the previous posts provide an outdated and possibly inaccurate representation of the firm.

I found the PWP interview process to be fairly standard. The interviews were a little more technical than the BBs. As PWP typically targets B-School students, this is as to be expected. That said, there was also a large fit component, given the small size of the firm.
Exit opps are difficult to quantify given firm's young age. Nevertheless, deal flow appears strong with a number of large somewhat atypical assignments. For example, they were just retained by the FDIC to advise on solutions to and the handling of the current crisis.
Thanks, Vanos. Yeah I saw that FDIC project too.
