Sponsorship at Lazard for FT - group-dependent or HR?

Hi everyone,

I would be grateful if anyone could tell me how the sponsorship process for a FT role works at Lazard.

Is it decided by the groups that want a candidate, is it location dependent, or is it HR that decides in bulk?

I am a recent MFin grad in Canada and managed to get a referral from senior leadership a few months ago. As it was not for any groups/active hiring process, I did not get a chance to prove my worth as HR seemed hesitant with the visa.

If it is group or location-dependent, I can actively reach out and land something through groups instead.

Thanks for any insights.

Thanks for the insight and your time. Are you at Lazard?

Don't have STEM-OPT as it's a Canadian MFin (didn't even know about banking in college when I had the STEM OPT).

It was a referral from someone in senior leadership (CEO/President level) and not an MD. But when HR asked how I know the person, I happen to naively answer that I emailed after watching an interview and we connected through calls after.

Exact moment when HR told me that lottery is risky and "keep in touch" further down the road.

If you have stem opt that you have not used, I believe it is still eligible. According to what I have been told, if I do a master's program that is not stem, I can still apply for stem While I am unable to combine the stem opt from my undergrad, I would like to use the stem opt from my undergrad

Edit: this is what my schools international officer told me no clue if it’s accurate

And I don’t even have TN.
I think they do sponsor if you have someone big pulling for you.
Visa became an issue the moment I naively answered how the person referring me knows me lol.

Bump, interested as well.

Networked with a few juniors there but none seemed to know how it works for internationals.

Anyone at Lazard and knows can comment?
