Dinged by Citadel

Hey,

I recently sent my rez to jobs@Citadel. Got a generic reply back from a recruiter over there saying there were no openings that fit my background right now blah blah blah...

I'm wondering if I should try calling this recruiter over the phone. Has anyone tried this with any success? Any tips on how to go about the convo?

I'm thinking about calling for 2 reasons:

a.) I want to get feedback on why they didn't want to talk to me

-I have a really solid academic background so it seems surprising they didn't want to
interview me (Phi Beta Kappa Math major from Univ. of Chicago, 1600/1600 SAT)
-My professional experience is in mgmt consulting so obviously not directly applicable
to HF so maybe thats what hurt me (then again, HF is so esoteric that very little work
experience outside of HF/trading is really directly applicable).

b.) I want to get on the recruiter's radar

-I'm skeptical whether a human actually looked at my resume
-If I call the recruiter, she might take a closer look at me

Anyways, would appreciate any tips/tricks on how to go about phone convo. I dont really see any downside from calling. After all, I've already got dinged. I do wonder if an email would be better though...
