how do I get a job in HK or Singapore?
With the way the job market is, I wouldn't mind going internationally. Is getting an interview even possible for someone in the US who doesn't have working visas for outside countries? Has anyone had success just applying on company websites for international offices and getting interviews?
Logic assumes one would have some sort of useful quality to be accepted to work in an international office (i.e., know the local language, have connections in said country, quant genius, etc.).
I'm just doubtful that a random analyst can be shipped off to a foreign country without some serious scrutiny / knowing someone.
Applying on the company website with a wing and a prayer does not work. Period. You need to physically be in that country or city. A relatively easy way to get established in a country and get your work/residence papers so you can continue hunting is to become an English teacher for the time being.
