Poker Class - NYC
I've been teaching a free poker class through skillshare.com in NYC. If anyone is interested in coming, please pm me. The next class is this Tuesday evening, 04/17, at the General Assembly on 902 Broadway. There are roughly 5-7 seats left.
I am happy to provide additional information, but in short I've won over 1.2m hands online, primarily 6max and HU, put in thousands of hours in live cash games, and did ok in a few live tournaments in Europe, Canda, and WSOP Main.
There is no angle. I just have some time before bschool and I am doing this because I think that poker is a phenomenal game. Depending on your opponent it can be incredibly complex/interesting and financially rewarding.
I thought that WSO members in NYC might be interested. If this isn't the right place for this post, feel free to remove it.
Not trolling, but when you say "won over 1,2m hands online", do you mean that you won over $1,2m (which would place you among the very best in the history of the game) or did you play over 1,2m hands and came out a winner (which seems more likely obv)? Regardless, seems a pretty good idea for anyone interested in poker as you seem to be pretty experienced. I played in a bunch of private games in NYC (was there a couple of months), so we might have played together already :). What limits do you play live?
Phil Ivy?
Definitely aiming towards complete non-competitors with those stats. Cool idea though. Poker is an awesome way to boil down a lot of strategic thinking in order to see strategy mechanics in work in other situations.
fatality,
i was working full-time when i was playing so i definitely didn't win 1mm, otherwise, i would have probably moved home and played full-time. with that said, i did okay.
1.2mm is just the sample size and i should have clarified that. it was meant to show that i played quiet a bit and won over a large sample.
play 5/10 and occasionally 10/25 if the game is good and/or if i can sell a piece to friends. we may have played together, but i am not sure that we should mention where on this board.
connor, i wish
He means he was a winning player over 1.2 million hands.
And winning $1.2 million would not place him among the best players ever. While only a small minority of poker players are winning players, and an even smaller percentage have won over $1mm playing poker, winning over a million in poker would not instantly place you among the all the time greats.
10/25 live? I don't think there are any sites that has 10/25 online (I only seen 10/20). I am .5/1 and 1/2 online player. I play 2/5 and 5/10 live. Please tell me the time and location of these classes, I'd be more than happy to show up. Thanks.
I will try to make it tomorrow, thanks.
I'll be there for their Social Enterprise series that night .. what time is your poker event?
