CFA for programmers
Hi,
I am a software developer working for a financial software company (~4 yrs of Fixed Income software).
I am troubled by a question: being a programmer, should I think of appearing for the CFA? What would be the next job-ops would be? Do I get the title, even if I am a programmer and not directly into finance or am I?
I am sorry if this is a repost. I searched, but could not find a post which could address my question on this site.
Thanks.
What do you want to do?
A lot of IT people sit for the CFA exams. Passing the exams is only part of the battle. No, you do not get the title. You need four years of qualifying work experience to qualify for the charter which is where the catch 22 comes into play. Qualifying work experience means that you play a role in the investment making process.
