first MM PE phone interview

What kind of interview questions should I expect to get in a first round MM PE interview? Are there standard technical questions? Or will it mostly be introductory talk? Would they ask about deal experience/details that are on my resume? Any tips are appreciated, this is my first phone interview with a PE firm and I'm a bit unsure of what to expect.... thank you.

Hard to generalize...

I had a few telephone interviews with European MM PE firms and the range went from...to: - walk through CV - why PE/why MM - which industries/firms to invest in - (dis)advantages of certain valuation methods/multiples - case study with back of the envelope valuation

I also found that when they ask about prior deal experience/jobs/internships they might get pretty detailed about who you worked with. Maybe that's a local thing because the markets here are a bit smaller but they like to check whether you are not BSing them.

Expect the worst and you'll pass it easily. Hope it helps!

What was your approach to this question?

I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing. See my Blog & AMA
