PLS HELP: Infra PE vs. Private Credit

Hello,

Toughts on which internships to take? Infra PE at a canadian pension fund or private credit at CVC

What are the exit opportunities for both careers? Which one is better (comps, exit opps, etc...).

Assuming I have leveraged finance internship and i take Infra PE, is this excluding me to apply to private debt later?

THANKS!

Interesting prb you have … I wud do pvt credit at cvc…because better brand (imo) gives you more exit options .. assuming it’s cross sector .. so gives you broader experience at start of career… am assuming it’s better pay… I did infra long back … trust me it’s boring….on flipside it’s obviously a competitive place.. progression is a ? With high rates private credit is doing well now but that’s not the long term norm(imo)

Now the Canadian funds… as someone trying to recruit there I value the slower n steady pace for a buyside gig (can start and retire there, lol)…. Infra is a long term bet for them… so progression is assured.. you never run out of opportunities in infra.. (in the broader context of human development)..

but then pay sucks .. you will be in infra for the rest of your life …

Obviously take above with a pinch of salt..

Thanks for the answer guys ! Do you really think having just one internship in Infra PE, pigeonhole me to Infra for the rest of my life? I read that at junior level you can always switch... I have L/S  + ECM + Lev Fin internships. I can always remove my Infra PE internship from CV when looking for full time opportunities...

In term of comps, i read different stuff all around. Some say it sucks but other say it's still decent. I think a director there still does 500k-700k?

The idea of this thread was really to shed light on these doubts...

Are these internships? If so, nothing will preclude you from anything down the line.

If you are in London, my preference would be CVC credit. CVC is one of the best names in Europe (and globally), and private credit is THE asset class for the next few years. Nothing wrong with the infra seat (I am in infra PE myself), but I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to go to CVC especially if you want to do debt.
