MSF URGENT QUESTION

Interned at a BB last summer as a non target, unfortunately didn’t receive return offer. I am currently considering applying to an MSF program to give me a shot at recruiting for 2025 FT roles. A few questions:

A: if the program is at a good school (ND for example), however the MSF alumni base isn’t too big in Banking, can I still leverage the undergrad / MBA alumni or will the degree hurt my application chances

B: how much does the school I will pick matter outside the scope of on campus recruitment?

thanks

I am currently mid way through my MSF degree at a top 5 public MSF program. I went to a no name undergrad which has a student population of about 2,500 and graduated with a business administration degree. Full disclosure i have not received a full time offer yet.

A. Our alumni network connections are good and definitely can help your progress in your job search, as well as mingling with other MS programs. In my opinion the MSF education on my resume has helped me land interviews are has shown I have drive to learn more.

B. School selection does matter to a certain extent in terms of name recognition and credibility. Also, connections to the university come up and can help establish some good rapport during the interview, whether the interviewer went there or know people who have, it will help make you stand out more if you can build upon that connection.
