2008 Financial Crisis on Naked shorts

I wasn't sure where to put this, so I put it in Monkeying around. I need some assistance in writing a paper and my topic is the effects of shorts and naked shorts during the 2008 financial crisis. I have some data, but it does not sufficiently tell me what went on.

What I know:
- Mainly hedge funds and day traders (Don't know specifically which firms).
- Many of the aftermath, i.e. prohibition on short trades on certain markets, etc.
- What exchanges were hit the hardest.
- What caused the shorts to be played.

What I wish to know is were there any effects it had on the market during and after the crisis? Any more info on what firms or who were playing these shorts.

Any other info or links would be great!

Thanks,
Monster :D
