Career Progression from Back office Finance role in AM
Hi Guys,
I'll appreciate some solid advice here:
I am a Business Finance graduate who now has over 4 years experience working in the Finance Operations department of large Asset Management. Having completed my CFA level 1 and planning on taking the next level, I am looking to make the move to the front office.
What sort of options should i be considering?
Is anyone able to give a quick summary of the day to day tasks and skills required to be Analyst in Fixed Income or Quality Fund strategies?
Thanks,

So I graduated from a non target, 3.8 GPA and no stellar finance internships. I accepted a BO gig a few months ago, but my goal is definitely IB. I know I've put myself in a bad place, but I'm planning on making a move after about 12 months at my firm. I currently work in ops in a MM firm, in their Asset Management division. I'm able to shine in my role, as many of my peers are the typical BO folks.
My question is what should I start doing now to position myself to transfer to IB. Networking, I know l, I've already established some good contacts. Want to do the most I could now to make the transition easier, as I know it is a very hard one.
Take a giant dump on a PM's desk to establish alpha (both ones...)
Within minutes they'll give you a corner office.
