80-80 split
So, just got back from the GMAT and wondering if I should retake. I got a decent score, but I didn't break 80% on quant.
Is a 750 with a 72nd percentile (45) quantitative score adequate for top business schools?

850 or bust
How much prep did you do? Personally I think it's much easier to bump up the Quant score than the verbal. Nonetheless 750 is a great score. You obviously smoked the verbal.
Retake a 750?! Please don't.
Wow. Come on, 750 is a great score. Ignore anyone retake it. Congratulations
this is a crazy score. you must have absolutely crushed the verbal to get a 750 with a quant score of 45. what was your verbal score?
Really? I got a 710 on the official practice with only a 42Q and 45V.
it is actually possible though. You gotta get 51 V.
Apparently you only need a 48 V. Based on my score on the GMAT I took yesterday. I got a 45 q and 48 v and it was a 750.
Monkey, chill. A 750 will get you into just about any MBA program provided that the rest of your application is up to par.
Congratulations, bro. =)
verbal was a 48.
To all who responded: Thanks, don't know what I was so worried about.
As far as prep is concerned: I prepped about a month using the official gmat book (shit is like mauve, probably you know the one) was hitting 47/48 quant on the official tests but I didn't sleep well last night so... fuck it.
Adcoms generally think someone is crazy to retake with scores that high. You should be fine, especially if you have math courses from college and/or can show math experience at your job.
you shouldn't retake but hopefully you have some sort of quant-based background.
Agree with the comment that if you majored in engineering, comp sci, stats, whatever or if you are doing something quant focused now (not like mgmt consulting) then a low quant score on the GMAT won't look so bad.
What about that + lower tier BB banking?
My undergrad degree is in straight Econ so, not really impressive as far as quant is concerned.
I think that you're fine, especially with econ and banking experience. Bottom line is, most schools want to make sure that you can handle the number stuff.
I was referring more to the people who were maybe history/english majors who may be consultants or something less quantitative.
