How have activist funds been holding up recently relative to other funds with different strategies?
Will some of the bigger funds hire straight out of analyst programs?

some will....make sure you do
some will....make sure you do get into an M&A group (learn analytical work, DD skills, may even do an activist defense or two)

Say I wanted to open my own
Say I wanted to open my own fund some day. What's the ideal path after going to a larger fund after a BB analyst program?
Look, its hard to plan things
Look, its hard to plan things out like that. Opportunity finds us in ways we can't even imagine. Its your job to take them no matter how tough it is to get. If you feel a BB analyst is the right place, then do it.
Opening a fund depends on the fund you worked in before that. So your first goal would be to find a company that uses a strategy that you are interested in. So, what type of strategy are you interested in?
I'm into this deep value
I'm into this deep value stuff with an activist angle. I'm coming out of research, so my profile is going to be different than a guy from M&A. What ideas do we have on making the transition from ER to an activist fund?
