BC is not a target, but like Villanova and a few other similar schools, you can find a job there. I know Jefferies has a few BC kids at their Waltham tech office and there are a few Eagles on Wall Street, though for the most part through family/friend connections, not the school. BC grads tend to get into asset management at places like Fidelity & State Street so they can stay in Boston.
i've always wondered why is that? I mean BC pretty competitive to get into 2100 SAT average and its a couple of notches below Cornell imo but its treated like dirt by BB.
I went to BC and would say that most grads do not have an inflated view of the school but do believe that it is a well-regarded institution. By no means is it a target but it is certainly not an automatic ding from top employers. The school has become increasingly more competitive and is still fairly young compared relative to its peers. It offers a great academic environment, solid sports programs, beautiful girls, nice campus, and great location (much more well-rounded than programs such as Cornell).
I received interviews from GS and JPM in 05' with a mediocre GPA and a liberal arts degree with no connections or significant finance related W/E. Needless to say, I did well in multiple interview rounds but did not receive an offer from either BB (primarily due to my complete lack of articulation/preparation of why I wanted to do IB).
3 years later Im glad things worked out the way they did...my sellside buddies are miserable
