no idea on bonus.
41k base?
i always though base in NYC was around 55K. no idea on bonus but not that much.
I know someone who just signed with GS ops- 55k + 10k sign-on bonus but AFAIK they don't get much, if any end of year bonus like the IB guys do.
5-10k bonus in ops was my understanding... but f* ops dude.
I am not looking to be a bank or ever work in PE. I want to work on an energy desk. They only have 150 people in houston and growing. While I may ever make it to the desk I will have a decent salary,bonus and leave everyday by 6. I like playing golf and chsing women so why not? I have 3 other sources of income so the money is not really an issue. However like many people here you dont want the guys next door to be making 30% more then you for doing the same work. My folks always said dont focus on what you want in life but focus on what you dont want. I dont want to spend my nights in an office. I tip my hand to all bankers and do feel that banking is hand down the best first job out of college. Just not for me. I spend my junior summer doing banking in college at a BB firm. Never again. Thanks for the feedback.

No, I feel you on that. I'm going into asset management for the lifestyle, but the work is still interesting -- ops work...
Or more likely never worked in banking at all.
