Prop fundamental equity desk or a risk arb desk. Not sure what banks have a risk arb desk but I know goldman and Citi do. You know much about risk arb? Its pretty interesting.
"Oh - the ladies ever tell you that you look like a fucking optical illusion?"
agreed w/ trade also equity or FI research
Any idea who BB has the largest and most established fundamental equity prop trading desk in Asia?
that is a sick picture. I've seen up to six screens at one desk, but 16? Does more than one person use that desk? That's incredible.
Sensory overload!!
depends on a HF , but generally sell side trading and buy side trading are different. If you're on a flow market making desk in a bank you may not be of much value to HFs. Experience on a Quantative Strtegies or Structuring desk may be more valuable. Prop trading desks experience is more directly transferable to HF, since prop desks are small HFs within a bank ...
Trading -> HF exit ops by desk (Originally Posted: 05/13/2011)
I'm going to start working at one the top prop trading firms soon (JSC/SIG/DRW) and while I have no plans to leave any time soon (and hope to stay for a long time) I am curious how the exit options to hedge funds would vary by desk and product, specifically equity/index options vs interest rate options/swaptions vs commodities options/futures.
What would exit options be like for equities vs interest rate vs commodities derivatives for hedge funds with different strategies (market making, arb, global macro...)? Definitely wouldn't want to get stuck as an execution trader if I had to move for whatever reason.
Thanks a bunch.
